Healing Properties of Amber:
Amber is an organic stone created when tree resin fossilizes. In other words, Amber used to be part of a tree’s immune system. Perhaps this is the secret to Amber’s healing properties. Most Amber is hundreds of thousands of years old, with the oldest known piece having formed 320 million years ago.
We have evidence that Amber was used for jewelry even further back, in the Stone Age, around 13,000 years ago. It was also found in Mycenaean tombs in Ancient Greece. Oddly enough, the Greek word for Amber was “elektron” which gave its name to “electricity” among other words. The Greeks found that if they rubbed amber against wool, then small objects such as straw or feathers would stick to it. That was just a hint at the underlying metaphysical properties of Amber.
First and foremost, Amber has long been considered a pain-reliever. It’s thought to absorb pain. If held against the afflicted area, it is said that the negative distortions that create pain can stick to the amber, just like the straw or feathers.
Another one of Amber’s healing properties, is that it can transform negative energy into positive. By removing the negativity from your system, all that’s left behind is good energy. It is known to stop self-destructive thoughts; soothe worries, sorrow and anger; and free your mind from stress. It keeps you focused on the present moment.
Working closely with the Solar Plexus, Amber is also well known for boosting creativity. It’s great for self-expression, empowering you to chase after your dreams. It enhances confidence too so that you’re more willing to put yourself out there. You’ll never lack motivation while using amber, so you will feel capable of reaching those long-term goals.
Amber's warm and sunny disposition has been known to bring people from the edge of self-sabotage to a happy and fulfilled state.

Butterfly Symbolism
There's something magical about the transformation of a caterpillar into a butterfly, making these beautiful winged beings a favorite of many. Their metamorphosis is revered as a metaphor for rebirth. Much like us, caterpillars have no way of knowing what's coming their way next. But they listen to their inner call to go within anyway, allowing death and rebirth to take place, says Anna Cariad-Barrett, DMin, M.S., MFT ecotherapist and co-author of Sacred Medicine of Bee, Butterfly, Earthworm, and Spider. Butterflies represent transformation on all levels, Anna describes.
"Butterflies show us how we can go within ourselves to dissolve old forms and morph, rebuilding and evolving ourselves," she notes that they show us the importance of surrender and trust "as part of the essential process of growth and renewal. Butterflies symbolize freedom... Our truest self can always fly free."
As author Erika Buenaflor, M.A., puts it in her book Animal Medicine, butterflies also symbolize rebirth, hope, and bravery. Seeing one is a sign that positive change is transpiring, and brave forces are watching over you and ensuring graceful transitions. The butterfly encourages you to flow through your transformation with confidence, she writes.
Butterfly Meaning in Different Cultures
From the ancient Celts to Indigenous Native Americans, cultures throughout history have honored the butterfly and its more spiritual meaning. Here are a few unique interpretations of what these insect beings symbolize to our ancestors.
In Mesoamerica
According to Buenaflor, the Central Mexican people going back to Teotihuacan associated butterflies with their ancestors. In the Mexicas' (Aztecs') Nahui Ollin rite, their feast to honor the sun, "they offered incense to an image of the sun dedicated as a butterfly in a golden circle emitting radiant beams and glowing lines," she says.
They believed warriors who displayed honor and bravery could eventually became birds, hummingbirds, or butterflies after they died, sipping nectar for eternity.
In Native American cultures
Different Native American tribes interpret butterflies in their own way, but generally, they're thought to represent change and transformation, comfort, hope, and positivity. While some believed ancestors communicated through butterflies, others took the presence of these creatures as a joyous or hopeful sign.
